Prominent architecture firm expands footprint in region

TAMPA — Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, a privately held, Montgomery, Ala.-based architecture firm with offices throughout the Southeast, has expanded to Tampa. 

According to a press release, the firm’s Tampa office will be led by 40-year industry veteran Mickey Jacob, who will have the title vice president of architecture. Jacob previously worked for Tampa-based BDG Architects LLP. He was the founding partner and managing principal at Urban Studio Architects Inc. until it merged with BDG in 2013.

“Joining GMC presents an exciting opportunity for me to continue to expand upon the work I’ve done in the Tampa community for almost 40 years,” Jacob states in the release. “GMC’s experience and multi-disciplinary design capabilities, coupled with their corporate philosophy about the importance of community involvement and the need to support good development, comes at the perfect time to help Tampa grow smartly amidst a period of exponential growth.”

GMC first expanded into Florida in 2010, the release states. In 2018, the firm acquired SaltoCo LLC, an architectural and planning firm in Sarasota. It expanded its presence in the Sunshine State in 2019 by merging with Bay Design Associates Architects in Pensacola.
