LAKEWOOD RANCH — Construction of the Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch has been completed.

The new 6,300-square-foot facility houses a full-scale medical center with seven exam rooms, a surgery suite, a full laboratory, a dental suite and a reception area, according to a press release. The cost of the project was not disclosed.

The center is off Lorraine Road and State Road 70 at 15205 Garnet Trail in Lakewood Ranch.

The project began in March 2019. Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction firm Halfacre Construction Co. built the center and supervised the site work, paved the parking lot and installed the landscaping, the release adds. The center is on 1.2 acres.

Dr. Wendy Ellis is the owner of Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch. She formerly founded the Sarasota Veterinary Emergency Hospital in 2006 and sold the clinic in 2016.

“This is a privately owned hospital with a family-oriented atmosphere,” says Ellis in the statement. “I love our location and our staff, and I’m proud to be a part of this community.”
