TAMPA — Frederick O’Malley has been appointed COO of Carlton Fields, succeeding Anastasia Hiotis, a mainstay at the law firm since 1992, when she joined as director of office operations and human resources.
Hiotis, according to a press release, is retiring. She had been COO since 2001. Her successor, the release states, brings more than 25 years of executive law firm management experience to the role and will be based at Carlton Fields' Tampa office.
“Carlton Fields’ growth and success are a matter of record,” O’Malley states in the release. “I am thrilled to be a part of the team and eager to help support the firm as it continues to reach new goals.”
O’Malley previously served as COO and CFO of another area law firm, Shutts & Bowen, which has offices in Tampa and Sarasota.
“We’re excited to welcome Fred to Carlton Fields,” Carlton Fields President and CEO Gary Sasso states in the release. “He is uniquely qualified to drive operational excellence. Fred has extensive knowledge of the industry and experience working at mid-size and large law firms, and I’m confident he will transition seamlessly into his new role.”
Sasso adds, “I want to thank Annie for setting such high standards throughout her nearly 30 years of service to the firm. Her superb business skills and personal integrity have left an indelible mark. We will miss her very much.”
Carlton Fields, with 325 attorneys, has offices in six states and Washington, D.C.
