CLEARWATER — Stephan Biller has been appointed CEO of Advanced Manufacturing International Inc., founded earlier this month as a subsidiary of Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group Inc. Manufacturing Technology Deployment's portfolio also includes the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining in Blairsville, Pa.

According to a press release, Biller has more than 20 years of experience in analytics, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), additive manufacturing and digital manufacturing. In addition, he holds 11 patents and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He will report to MTDG President Dean Bartles.

Clearwater-based AMI, the release states, seeks to advance innovative technologies and best practices into global manufacturing markets while expanding into the broader U.S. manufacturing sector beyond the defense industrial base served for nearly 20 years by NCDMM.

“I have had the extraordinary pleasure of knowing Stephan as both a colleague and a friend for many years,” Bartles states in the release. “He is a technological visionary. Stephan possesses all the leadership qualities, a strong commitment to excellence, and an extensive background in digital transformation technologies needed to grow AMI into the trusted and recognized leader of digital and smart manufacturing solutions. I am excited to be working with Stephan in growing the organization and empowering all manufacturers to implement digital innovations that will enable them to better compete in the global economy."

Prior to joining AMI, Biller served as the vice president of product management for AI applications and Watson IoT at IBM Corp. He has also held senior roles at General Electric Corp. and General Motors.
