Insurance firm promotes employee to chief information security officer

Glen Distefano has served in several high-level leadership roles within technology, underwriting and security operations.

BRADENTON — Sunz Insurance has promoted Glen Distefano to chief information security officer.

Distefano has been with Bradenton-based Sunz for 15 years, according to a press release. He has served in several high-level leadership roles within technology, underwriting and security operations, most recently as chief technology officer.   

Distefano started with Sunz as chief information officer in 2005 when the company was established. He moved to the position of chief operations officer in 2008 and became chief technology officer in 2017.  

“Glen is committed to the success of SUNZ on many levels, and he has shown his dedication through his 15-year career with the company,” says SUNZ Insurance CEO Steve Herrig in a statement. “He has always been forward-thinking and innovative in our organization’s processes and procedures.” 

In his new role, Distefano will focus on continuing to enhance and monitor cyber security measures.   

Sunz Insurance is a national workers’ compensation insurance company. Since 2005, Sunz moved its headquarters to Sarasota and then to downtown Bradenton. It now has 365 employees in claims administration,  case management, fraud prevention  and customer support services. Sunz Holdings LLC reported $415.02 million in gross revenue in 2019.
