Manufacturer of sanitizing products names chief scientific officer

Durisan also named a vice president of sales and marketing.

SARASOTA — Sanitizing products manufacturer Durisan has named Joseph Antoun the company's chief scientific officer.

A clinician and researcher, Antoun earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the Université de Bretagne Occidentale in France, according to a press release. After more than 10 years in the cosmetics industry, Antoun dedicated a decade to academic research and the clinics at Vanderbilt University.

Antoun will help Sarasota-based Durisan continue to develop safe and innovative products.

Durisan also named Michelle Noël its vice president of sales and marketing. Noël brings 30 years of experience to the manufacturer, including experience selling and marketing products to retailers in the U.S. She has led product development, packaging and implementation initiatives. 

In another staffing move, Durisan named Mónica Torres its staff accountant. Her role will include accounting and financial review.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new team members,” says Durisan CEO Troy Daland in a statement. “The professionalism and capabilities that each brings to the table will be instrumental in moving Durisan to the next level in developing, manufacturing and delivering safe and family-friendly antimicrobial products that everyone can use.”

Durisan also recently announced that Dr. Naji Abumrad joined the company's scientific advisory board. Abumrad is the John L. Sawyers Professor of Surgery and executive medical director of the Surgery Patient Care Center at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He is the inaugural member and chairman of Durisan's newly established scientific advisory board.

Abumrad's charge includes identifying potential board members with the knowledge and experience to help Durisan conduct research and help with product development as well as inform organizational investment and expansion into markets.

Durisan was founded in 2014 after developing a durable alcohol-free antimicrobial system for clothing that also worked on other surfaces. The company produces a range of sanitizing products for commercial and residential use.
