Retirement plan administration firm hires new vice president

Former U.S. Navy pilot Steve Barber joins Tampa-based MidAmerica Administrative and Retirement Solutions.

TAMPA — MidAmerica Administrative and Retirement Solutions LLC, a Tampa company that administers retirement plans for public sector employers and their employees, has named Steve Barber vice president of business development and strategy.

Barber, according to a press release, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and flew F/A-18s in the Navy for 11 years prior to joining the private sector. At MidAmerica, he will oversee sales initiatives and work with the firm’s account management and marketing teams to drive growth while supporting partners, clients and participants.

“As MidAmerica continues to grow, it is important that we have cross-functional alignment on every level,” states Jim Tormey, MidAmerica’s president and CEO, in the release. “The addition of Steve rounds out our executive team, and I am absolutely thrilled to welcome him aboard.”

In addition to his military education and service, Barber, the release states, also earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
