Grocery chain acquired, plans to expand bulk, private label sections

Richard's Foodporium has 12 retail stores in Florida and a 22,000-square-foot warehouse complex in north Sarasota.

SARASOTA — Bulk Nation Holdings, owner of Bulk Nation Foods of Florida, recently purchased Sarasota-based health food chain Richard’s Foodporium. 

After 40 years in business, Richard’s will continue to stay open, according to a press release.  

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Company leadership will remain the same, according to an official with Richard's. 

"...it was Richard’s loyal customer base and strong corporate culture that convinced them to add this steadfast chain to their ownership group," the release states. "Richard’s ability to address emerging trends quickly, be more ingrained in the community and to carry more local products are the cornerstones behind what BNF sees as a bright future moving forward."                 

According to the release, the next steps for Richard’s includes expanding their bulk and private label sections and facilitating more informational workshops.

Richard's Foodporium was founded in 1979. It has 12 retail stores in Florida and a 22,000-square-foot warehouse complex in north Sarasota.
