TAMPA — ReliaQuest, a Tampa-based enterprise cybersecurity firm, has acquired Austin-based Threatcare, which offers proactive cyber defense services to tech companies.

In a press release, ReliaQuest officials say the acquisition will enhance protection for its enterprise customers by providing integrated cyber-attack simulations that validate response protocols. Threatcare founder Marcus Carey will join ReliaQuest as chief technology officer as part of the deal. All other Threatcare employees will also join ReliaQuest.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in the release.

"We are focused on delivering operational excellence and world-class cybersecurity outcomes, so we jumped at the opportunity to offer our customers an even stronger platform," ReliaQuest CEO Brian Murphy states in the release. “I'm personally thrilled to welcome Marcus and colleagues to the team, given their exceptional talent and our shared vision for proactive security model management."

ReliaQuest, the release states, has grown at a rapid pace over the past few years. Its annual recurring revenue has increased by 900% since the beginning of 2016, and its workforce has expanded from 70 to nearly 500 employees during that time.

"ReliaQuest is the secret weapon of some of the world's most trusted brands and is exactly the kind of company I like to be a part of," Carey states in the release. "ReliaQuest's commitment to their customers, leadership, culture and technology is unlike any other I have seen, and I am excited to join forces on their next phase of growth. I look forward to continuing to understand and anticipate the latest attacker techniques, methods and tools to provide our customers with the best cybersecurity protection."
