BRADENTON — Realize Bradenton, a nonprofit that promotes cultural and physical development as well as economic growth in downtown Bradenton, recently appointed Karen Corbin as the organization’s first development director.
Corbin brings more than 20 years of experience in philanthropy and resource development to Realize Bradenton, according to a press release.
In her new position, Corbin will be responsible for Realize Bradenton’s comprehensive resource development plan in partnership with the executive director and board of directors. She will also serve as the organization’s major gift fundraiser, donor relations coordinator and strategic grants manager.
The release adds the new role will extend Realize Bradenton’s ability to secure resources and grants that build downtown’s vitality, attractiveness and business development.
Prior to joining Realize Bradenton, Corbin served as vice president of The Aviva Foundation, which supports Aviva – A Campus for Senior Life in Sarasota. She was responsible for its fiscal management as well as implementing a planned giving program, among other management duties.
Previously, Corbin was executive director of the National Kidney Foundation, serving the communities of Connecticut and western Massachusetts. Her career includes roles in development and management with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Chase Collegiate School, American Diabetes Association and National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
“Karen brings a wealth of nonprofit experience to our team,” says Johnette Isham, executive director of Realize Bradenton, in the statement. “She will work to engage people through arts, culture, heritage and food to build a vibrant, healthy and fun Bradenton.”
