Credit union grows leadership team with new hires, promotion

GTE Financial adds chief strategy and experience officers, plus a vice president.

TAMPA — GTE Financial has promoted Jennifer Maxfield to chief strategy officer, in in addition to hiring Pedro Diaz as chief experience officer and Gary Montemurro as vice president of project and program management.

In a press release, the Tampa-based credit union — which boasts $2.09 billion in total assets and more than 240,000 members — says the moves were made with an eye toward expanding its member services and growing its financial holdings. The new executives bring more than 45 years of combined financial industry experience to GTE Financial.

"At GTE Financial, we continuously strive to improve the financial lives of our members while making a positive impact on the communities we serve,” states Brian Best, president and CEO of GTE Financial. “All three individuals are exceptional leaders who believe strongly in our core values and will work tirelessly to empower our members, engage our employees and strengthen our ability to do great things."

Diaz comes to GTE from Bank of America, where, the release states, he served as senior vice president and oversaw 163 branches throughout Florida.

Maxfield, in her eighth year with GTE, has held several roles in the credit union’s marketing department, including vice president of marketing and products.

Montemurro, meanwhile, comes to GTE from Verizon Communications, where he worked for 20 years in a variety of senior-level positions.
