CLEARWATER — Stratus Video, a provider of telehealth and remote interpreting services, has merged with InDemand Interpreting.
In a press release, the Clearwater-based company says the acquisition will help expand its offerings for patients who speak limited English or are deaf or hard of hearing. Adding Seattle-based InDemand’s suite of offerings will allow it to provide greater access to qualified interpreters via the latest in audio, video and geolocation technology.
“We are thrilled to be merging with InDemand Interpreting,” states David Fetterolf, president of Stratus Video, in the release. “We are confident that bringing these two dedicated teams together will lead to new innovations in healthcare interpreting.”
Fetterolf, according to a Stratus Video spokeswoman, will become president of InDemand as a result of the deal. Other terms were not disclosed.
According to the release, some 25 million people in the United States possess limited proficiency with the English language, making Stratus/InDemand’s tools a valuable asset for health care providers.
“We are excited to combine our shared passion for providing access to qualified/certified medical interpreters with industry-leading service levels and technology suite,” states Mary Kate Salley, COO of InDemand Interpreting, in the release.
