SARASOTA — Italpollina, a producer of organic fertilizers, beneficial microbials and 100% vegetal-based biostimulants, has acquired Sarasota-based Horticultural Alliance Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Horticultural Alliance specializes in an organic approach to plant health and maintenance through mycorrhizal inoculants and beneficial bacteria in horticulture. James Quinn founded the firm in 1997.

“When it became time to pass the torch, Italpollina was my choice,” says Quinn in a statement. "This transaction is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to grow the biological side of their business with a proven winner.”

The acquisition provides Italpollina a second location in the U.S., joining a recently completed 70,000-square-foot North American headquarters in Anderson, Ind., the statement adds.

“We have made a commitment to meeting the demands of the North American market,” says Italpollina CEO Luca Bonini in the statement. “And we will continue our drive to develop production technologies and distribution strategies to support agriculture as well as other segments in need of sustainable solutions.”

Italpollina operates in 80 countries with five production sites, two research and development centers and 14 commercial offices.
