Airport reports 35% increase in passenger traffic

Year-to-date traffic at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is up 38%.

SARASOTA — Sarasota Bradenton International Airport passenger traffic was up 35% in February. 

According to a press release, the double-digit increase was compared to February 2018. The airport reported that 150,607 passengers traveled through the airport during the month. 

The February increase follows a 41% increase in traffic for the month of January. Year-to-date traffic is up 38%, the release adds. 

Passenger traffic is expected to show continued growth through 2019, with eight new destinations starting service over the next 30 days, airport officials add in the statement. Service to Traverse City, Mich., starts March 23 on Elite Airways, and seven new destinations on Allegiant Air start in early April.
