Telecom, satellite radio exec joins area tech firm

Tampa-based Syniverse appoints Vernon Irvin senior vice president.

TAMPA — Syniverse, a Tampa-based business technology company, has hired Vernon Irwin as senior vice president of enterprise business development.

Irwin, a press release states, will be charged with leading and growing Syniverse’s enterprise business in all regions. He will split his time between the firm’s Tampa and Denver offices and report to Syniverse Chief Marketing Officer Bill Hurley.

“Vernon Irvin is a wonderful addition to our Syniverse executive leadership team,” Hurley states in the release. “I am confident Vernon will help us grow our business with enterprises around the world. His vast network and relationships with senior executives leading enterprises’ digital transformation are a perfect fit for Syniverse as the world’s most connected company.”

According to the release, Irwin comes to Syniverse from Louisiana telecom firm CenturyLink. He has also held leadership roles at Charter Communications, Virtual World Computing and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, where he served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

“Syniverse has the perfect global solution set to help enterprises with greater customer loyalty, profitability and a great next-generation mobile seamless experience,” Irwin states in the release. “I am happy to be part of the executive management team.”
