Law firm changes name to reflect new partnership

SARASOTA — The law firm Gurley & Associates has changed its name to Gurley Herbert to reflect the new partnership of David Gurley with Joseph Herbert. 

The Sarasota-based firm specializes in construction law, surety law and commercial litigation.

Herbert served in the U.S. Navy before relocating to Sarasota in 2003, according to a press release. After a career in business management, Herbert began practicing law in 2010. He focuses on business, construction, real estate and employment law.

Herbert has served in various roles with the Sarasota County Bar Association and is currently a steering committee member for the business law and employment law sections. He regularly lectures at construction law and employment law seminars and continuing education panels, the release adds. 

“I am very pleased to welcome Joe as a partner,” says Gurley, senior partner of Gurley Herbert, in the statement. “His quality of work and legal advocacy skills are outstanding, and I look forward to his continued dedication to the achievement of excellent results for our portfolio of valued clients.”

Gurley has been a principal of the firm since its inception in 2002.
