TAMPA — WeWork, a New York-based co-working company with 425 locations and 400,000 members worldwide, will open a 50,000-square-foot facility in Tampa in spring 2020.

WeWork at The Heights, as the space will be known, will be part of the revived Tampa Heights neighborhood, a riverfront area north of downtown that has seen a major influx of development in recent years, including the Armature Works event space and public market.

Located at 2002 N. Tampa St., the co-working space will be part of the 300,000-square-foot Heights Union Office project and have room for 800 members, according to a press release.

“WeWork is thrilled to call Tampa our newest home in the Sunshine State as we plant our roots in historic Tampa Heights,” states Bobby Condon, WeWork’s southeast general manager, in the release. “We’re always searching for strategic locations where our members can seamlessly live, work and play, and WeWork at The Heights development will be uniquely poised to provide that experience. WeWork is committed to supporting the growth and revitalization of downtown Tampa, and we look forward to expanding our footprint throughout the city in the years to come.”

According to the release, commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield arranged the lease.

“WeWork has locations in some of the hippest cities in the country,” Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn states in the release. “WeWork’s pick of Tampa is further proof that our city is gaining credibility as a vibrant, cool place to live and work, and a place where some of the country’s leading and most innovative companies want to be.”
