LAKEWOOD RANCH — Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new $16 million Lakewood Ranch Cancer Center.

Designed by St. Petersburg-based Optimal Outcomes LLC, the region’s center includes nearly 40 chemotherapy chairs, access to clinical trials and 10 examination rooms. The location accommodates the oncology practice’s significant growth, according to a press release.

The new office also houses the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to eligible cancer patients for essential, non-medical living expenses.

Florida Cancer Specialists is an independent community oncology and hematology practice with an expanding presence in Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Florida Cancer Specialists was founded in 1984. It has more than 230 physicians, 220 advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants and nearly 100 locations in its network.
