LEE COUNTY — Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Kevin Thibault recently appointed Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass to serve on the Southwest-Central Florida Connector Task Force.
The Florida Legislature established the Multi-use Corridors of Regional Economic Significance (M-Cores) program to address transportation and infrastructure needs throughout the state, according to a press release. The Southwest-Central Connector is one of three corridors that will be studied, extending from Collier County to Polk County.
“It’s an honor to be appointed by Secretary Thibault and confirmed by my colleagues on the (Lee commission) for this role. This program will improve transportation and public safety while protecting our natural environment for the whole state of Florida,” Pendergrass says in the statement.
The task force will meet several times over the next year with a final report due to Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature by Oct. 1, 2020.
