FORT MYERS — A labor and employment attorney employed at the Naples office of a national law firm was named vice president of the Lee County Association for Women Lawyers.
Alexis Barkis, a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University and the Ave Maria School of Law, has been the treasurer of the association since 2018 and a board member since 2016. She is an associate with Quarles & Brady in Naples, according to a statement.
The Lee County organization promotes the advancement of women in the legal profession and seeks to promote women’s opportunities and rights by enhancing the visibility of women within the legal profession, the local and state judiciary, and within the Lee County community at large.
As a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment division, Barkis represents employers of all sizes across a wide range of industries with issues involving the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal, state and local fair employment and anti-discrimination issues.
