SARASOTA — M/I Homes has started construction on two single-family model homes in its Hidden Creek community in east Sarasota.

According to a press release, the two models being built are known as Calusa and Daintree. The Calusa model has a Craftsman-style elevation with three bedrooms and a den. The West Indies-inspired Daintree model has three bedrooms, a den and a loft.

Homebuyers in the community can choose from the River Series of single-family homes priced from the low-$300,000s or the Smart Villa Series priced from the mid-$200,000s, the release adds.

The community, off Fruitville Road in Sarasota, is now pre-selling houses. Hidden Creek is expected to open in early 2019.

M/I Homes was founded in 1976 by Melvin and Irving Schottenstein. The company opened a homebuilding division for Sarasota and Manatee counties in July 2016.
