SARASOTA — CAN Community Health, one of the largest nonprofits in the state devoted to care and treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS, has acquired majority interest in Mail-Meds Clinical Pharmacy in Fort Myers and Tampa Family Pharmacy.
Terms of the deals, which Sarasota-based law firm Williams Parker assisted on, were not disclosed.
“The addition of Mail-Meds and Tampa Family Pharmacy will leverage our unique integrated business model allowing CAN to incorporate pharmacy services along with health care services while providing convenience to clients," says CAN Community Health President and CEO of Richard Carlisle in a statement. "This addition will only further CAN’s mission."
CAN will continue to provide patients with a pharmacy care program that includes patient education, refill reminders and adherence tools, the release state. Clients will have access to their prescriptions via new pharmacies.
“Joining forces with CAN Community Health will allow current Mail-Meds Clinical Pharmacy customers the opportunity to link to the country’s fastest growing network of HIV/AIDS treatment centers,” says Mail-Meds President and CEO Mark Theobald in a statement. “As a member of this exclusive network, our contracted covered entities will have the strength of a large organization behind them bringing value to each customer in all facets of their business.”
Sarasota-based CAN Community Health is dedicated to the treatment, care and wellness of people living with HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C and other STDs. It operates 34 clinics in the U.S, and has an operating budget of $157 million.
