SARASOTA — United Airlines is increasing nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and 15 destinations, including Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

United plans to increase flights to the airport, under the call letters SRQ, to two flights daily. The service will begin Oct. 4.

United will also increase flights to Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers to three daily starting on the same day.

"Since more of our customers begin their travel from New York/Newark than any other United hub city, we've created a more customer friendly schedule that removed connection times and provided convenient nonstop service to multiple U.S. destinations," says United Vice President of Domestic Network Ankit Gupta in a statement.

United Airlines and United Express operate about 4,600 flights a day to 354 airports on five continents.
