Hospital appoints new director

SARASOTA — Sarasota Memorial Health Care System appointed Dr. Aurora Wong its new medical director of rehabilitation services.

Wong will guide rehabilitative care throughout the health system's inpatient and outpatient network. According to a press release, she has spent the past decade specializing in neuro-rehabilitation for stroke, traumatic brain injury, trauma and neurological disorders.

In her new role, Wong will oversee a spectrum of services to meet the medical, rehabilitation and mobility needs of people recovering from brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke and neurological disorders and orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.

Previously she was medical director of the North Mississippi Medical Center's Rehab Institute in Tupelo, Miss., and chairman of the medical center's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation division.
