SARASOTA — Doctors Hospital of Sarasota named three new members of its board of trustees.

The new trustees are Sarasota Area President of Florida's United Way Suncoast Mireya Eavey; Venice orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Jaquith; and Florida State University medical student Alexandra Johnston, according to a statement.

Eavey is also the executive director of CareerEdge Funders Collaborative, an organization that connects funders, educators, employers and community-based organizations.

Jaquith is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and the founding president of the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Diocese of Venice.

Johnston served on the executive board of FSU's Undergraduate Chapter of the American Medical Women's Association. During her time with the association, she spent time on a U.S. warship in the Pacific Ocean and received the Navy Health Professions Scholarship to serve in the U.S. Navy as a physician.

“Through their professional and personal lives Mireya Eavey, Dr. Michael Jaquith and Alex Johnston demonstrate great commitment to making our community better,” says Doctors Hospital CEO Robert Meade in the statement. “I look forward to working with them and our entire board as we bring exceptional and personalized care to our area.”
