SARASOTA — Kirk Pinkerton business attorney and arbitrator F. Steven Herb has been named vice chairman of the board for Sarasota Military Academy, a public charter school with high school and middle school campuses.

Herb has assisted on the board in various positions since 2010. Herb joined the board after being introduced to the school by its then chairman, Howard Crowell, a founding director, according to a statement.

“I feel privileged to serve with these community leaders, and in some way helping an organization that instills the principles of integrity, honor, respect and patriotism,” says Herb in the release. “The school's guiding principles align with my beliefs of what is needed in our world, especially our youth and tomorrow's leaders. The cadets continually make us proud and have proven the validity of instilling these values along with a challenging academic education.”

Herb served in the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate General from 1975 to 1978, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal, the release states.
Herb's primary areas of practice at Kirk Pinkerton are corporate, business and real estate law. He has also acted as the national legal counsel for more than a dozen boat manufacturers for more than 25 years.
