Hospital vice president makes leap to top post

Jason Dunkel is the new CEO of Florida Hospital North Pinellas.

TARPON SPRINGS — Adventist Health System, the parent company of Florida Hospital, named Jason Dunkel president and CEO of Florida Hospital North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs.

Dunkel will assume leadership responsibilities for the 168-bed hospital immediately, according to a press release.

“Jason is a leader with a proven track record of fostering growth and operational success,” states Terry Shaw, president and CEO of Adventist Health System, in the release. “His contributions and leadership have helped elevate Florida Hospital North Pinellas and advance our mission in the community, and I am confident that the hospital will prosper under his guidance.”

Dunkel previously served as the hospital’s vice president of operations and business development, providing leadership and oversight of the construction and opening of a 24-bed freestanding emergency room in Palm Harbor, the release states. Dunkel has also held leadership roles at Adventist hospitals in Colorado and Tennessee.

“I am honored and blessed to have the opportunity to lead Florida Hospital North Pinellas,” Dunkel states in the release. “We have so many amazing caregivers and team members at our hospital, and I look forward to collaborating with them and our community to deliver the best whole-person care possible to those we serve.”
