LAND O'LAKES — Florida Hospital at Connerton’s long-term, acute care center in Land O’ Lakes held a groundbreaking recently for a $20 million, 22,000-square-foot expansion.
According to a press release, the expansion includes 30 new critical-care-level beds designed to serve patients requiring additional weeks of specialized hospital care. Once completed, Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care, which opened in 2009 and treats 600 patients per year, will increase to 75 beds.
“Our programs and services cater to patients with medically complex care needs,” states Debi Martoccio, COO of Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care, in the release. “The expansion of our critical care wing allows us to deliver expert care to even more people in the community who are moving toward the next stage of their recovery.”
The project — which will also include the addition of state-of-the art technology such as advanced cardiac monitoring and smart IV pumps — is expected to be complete in autumn 2019, the release states.
