TAMPA — La Segunda Central Bakery, which has served customers in Tampa’s Ybor City historic district for 103 years, has expanded to South Tampa.
On July 18, the family-owned business will open its second location, at 4015 W. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 4.
According to a press release, the 3,082-square-foot La Segunda Bakery & Café will offer seating for approximately 95 guests and will serve breakfast and lunch. It will also feature a coffee bar, pet-friendly patio seating and a community table that can be used for meetings. USB charging ports will be located throughout the café, the release states, and the coffee bar will serve Ybor-based Naviera brand coffee.
Baking approximately 18,000 loaves every day, La Segunda is the largest producer of Cuban bread in the world, and patrons of the new bakery and café will be able to watch the company’s expert bakers prepare its signature items.
“Our goal with La Segunda Bakery & Café is to bring a slice of Ybor City to South Tampa,” states Copeland More, fourth-generation owner, in the release. “Guests will be able to enjoy the experience of watching our skilled bakers prepare items as they wait for their order. Or guests can just sit back and relax in our seating area while enjoying a meal or a simple cup of café con leche. We hope La Segunda Bakery & Café will be a gathering place for the community.”
La Segunda Bakery & Café will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week.
