Bank names area president

TAMPA — SunTrust Banks Inc. appointed leaders for the Florida division and Tampa Bay market.

Scott Cathcart was named the Florida division president, and Tim Schar was named the Tampa Bay market president for the Atlanta-based bank.

Cathcart serves as the central Florida division president. He will continue to have direct oversight of that market in addition to overseeing all Florida markets, according to a press release.

Schar most recently served as CFO and chief compliance officer of ApplePie Capital Inc., a company that provides financing for franchises.

“Tim's leadership role as a CFO combined with more than two decades of investment banking, equity capital markets, and structured debt product experience, make him a dynamic player to lead the Tampa Bay team,” says Cathcart in a statement.

According to a press release, in Florida, SunTrust serves more than 1.15 million consumer households, nearly 185,000 business clients and has about 6,000 employees.
