SARASOTA — Sarasota-based Star2Star Communications and Dublin-based Blueface will merge, forming a combined entity known as StarBlue.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The voice software companies operate across the U.S. and Europe. Together, the companies have a workforce in excess of 500 people, according to a press release.

Star2Star CEO Norman Worthington will become executive chairman of Star2Star and Blueface. Blueface CEO Alan Foy becomes CEO of Star2Star and group CEO of StarBlue.

Sarasota will be the North American headquarters for Blueface. Dublin will be the Blueface headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the release adds.

“The merger of Blueface and Star2Star represents a game changing event in the unified communications as a service (UCaaS) landscape as it combines the best of proprietary UCaaS technology with an expansive geographic distribution, capability and reach,” says Star2Star and Blueface group CEO Alan Foy in a statement.

Star2Star was founded in Sarasota in 2006. It handles business communications including voice, video, fax, chat and presence management. Star2Star had $58 million in revenue in 2016.
