SARASOTA — The Westin Sarasota recently named Heather Spiegel director of sales and marketing.

Spiegel will oversee a team of group sales managers and event services professionals, in addition to heading up advertising and marketing opportunities for the hotel, say property officials. Spiegel was previously director of sales at Hyatt Place Coconut Point in Estero for five years.  She also previously worked for LXR Luxury Resorts, where she worked with corporate accounts to bring large meetings to Southwest Florida properties, including the Naples Grande Resort.

The 18-story, 255-room Westin Sarasota, one of the newer properties to downtown Sarasota’s growing hotel scene, has 26,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Known locally for its 19th floor rooftop bar, the hotel opened in September 2017.

“The look and feel of this hotel brings a fresh, exciting vibe to the downtown scene of Sarasota,” Spiegel  says in a Q&A from the hospitality division of  The Kolter Group, developer of the property. “We live in a beautiful place where we want to see and feel it even from the inside. Our guests can feel that here. Floor to ceiling windows are everywhere you look, even in most of our meeting space.”
