ST. PETERSBURG — On Tuesday, Salt Palm Development will cut the ribbon on the first building in its Sabal Smart Homes project at 532 4th Ave. S. in downtown St. Petersburg.

The Sabal, as the development is known, consists of two townhomes featuring connected-home technology that can automatically and remotely regulate many functions, such as lighting and thermostat control. The four-floor units also are equipped with elevators and electric car charging stations, according to a press release.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman is expected to attend the ribbon-cutting event.

Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Salt Palm Development is the first Certified B Corp real estate development company in Florida and the southeast. B Corp companies have been certified to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Salt Palm Development, according to the release, intends to build a second Sabal Smart Homes unit at the 4th Avenue South site, as well as additional local developments. On Tuesday, it will also announce its “StPeteForGood” campaign to raise awareness of the B Corp movement.
