ST. PETERSBURG — Hyatt Place St. Petersburg Downtown is scheduled to open in late September. The 15-story, 175-room hotel will be the first upscale select service Hyatt in St. Petersburg.

The hotel — at 25 2nd St. N., in the city's Waterfront Arts District — will feature a 5,000-square-foot restaurant concept, 4,500 square feet of event space and a 5,500-square-foot rooftop pool deck and bar with views of Tampa Bay. It will also have three full-service bars and a sidewalk cafe.

According to a press release, Hyatt Place St. Petersburg Downtown will host poolside yoga by St. Pete-based Body Electric Yoga Company. Its bar and dining facilities will have beverages made by local companies, such as St. Petersburg Distillery, Green Bench Brewing Co., Cycle Brewing, St. Pete Brewing and Black Crow Coffee Co.

“We've been given the freedom to create a hotel experience that hones in on the things that are quintessentially St. Pete,” says Sales Director Ryan Tarrant in a statement. “From our interior design to our food and beverage offerings, we've created a very craft-centric hotel that we think locals and tourists will want to come back to.”

West Palm Beach-based developer Kolter Hospitality, which will manage the property after it opens, says the hotel's amenities and atmosphere position it closer to a full-service hotel with rates in line with select service brands.
