TAMPA — Lumina Analytics, a Tampa-based data and tech firm, hired Robert Hyde as executive vice president.

Hyde brings business and military leadership to the role, according to a press release. Prior to joining Lumina, he served as vice president of enterprise risk management at Grow Financial Federal Credit Union.

Before he joined the business world, Hyde was a career Naval officer, retiring in 2015 with the rank of commander. He served in numerous areas of operations, including the Pacific Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf, before transitioning to national security roles at U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command.

“Bob's experiences in military service and executive leadership in financial services are a perfect fit for the role he is filling at Lumina,” says Lumina CEO Allan Martin in a statement. “It is never easy to find the combination of character, experience and leadership capacity that we have found in Bob.”

According to the release, as Lumina's new executive vice president, Hyde — a graduate of Villanova University and the Naval War College — will have a range of responsibilities over the many operating units in Lumina's corporate and government services groups.

“Lumina is filling an important gap in the market surrounding data mining, machine learning, intelligence development and risk management,” Hyde says in the release. “We have an exciting future and I look forward to sharing our capabilities with my colleagues from past experiences in financial services and defense.”
