Best Buy exec named to Bloomin' Brands board

TAMPA — The Bloomin' Brands Inc. board elected Mike Mohan as a director of the Tampa-based franchise restaurant company, effective Oct. 20. Mohan will also serve on the compensation committee.

The appointment increases the size of the board to eight members, six of whom are independent.

Mohan serves as Best Buy's senior executive vice president and chief merchandising and marketing officer.

"Mike played a key role in reinvigorating the customer experience at Best Buy, and is now focused on helping drive Best Buy's future growth," states Liz Smith, Bloomin' Brands board chairwoman, in a news release. "That expertise, coupled with his digital marketing acumen, makes him uniquely suited for our board as we continue to drive sustainable long-term growth."

According to the release, Mohan has nearly 30 years of retail and management experience.

Tampa-based Bloomin' Brands Inc.'s portfolio includes Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.
