SARASOTA — Sarasota-based nonprofit Children First Inc. hired Jessica Rogers as vice president of philanthropy.

Rogers will begin in her new role at Children First Dec. 6. According to a press release, as the leader of Children First's philanthropy department, she will provide strategic direction for fundraising with the goal of expanding early childhood education and family services for economically vulnerable children and families.

Previously, Rogers was the associate vice president of advancement at New College of Florida and associate director of the New College Foundation. She joined the college in 2006 as executive director of the New College Alumnae/I Association after working in banking.

When she managed donor relations for the New College Foundation, Rogers developed philanthropic giving programs and served as a leader in team fundraising efforts that secured over $36 million in outright and planned gifts since 2010, according to a press release.

“While Jessica's skills, knowledge, and vibrant personality are clearly evident, it is the passion for and commitment to the Children First mission that truly shines through,” says Children First President and CEO Philip Tavill in a statement.

Children First was founded in 1961. At 13 sites in Sarasota County, it offers full-day preschool; infant and toddler care; as well as nutrition and health care assistance for children from birth to five years old from low-income families.
