Airport passengers decrease in September

FORT MYERS — Fort Myers' Southwest Florida International Airport saw 327,466 passengers travel through the airport in September.

According to a press release, the number represents a decrease of 16.4% compared to September 2016. It also says year-to-date passenger traffic is up 2.1% from the same period last year.

The top five airlines for traffic in September were Delta Air Lines with 75,168 passengers, Southwest Airlines with 60,369 passengers, JetBlue with 55,070 passengers, American Airlines with 54,090 passengers and United Airlines with 27,580 passengers.

The statement says about 2.4 million pounds of air freight moved through the airport in September, which is a decrease of 1.4% compared to September 2016.

In 2016, the airport served 8.6 million passengers.
