Managing a roll of 25 to 30 clients takes a lot of organization, says Elizabeth Lombardo.
The Wilson Creative Group account manager is responsible for client management, influencing creative work and adhering to marketing budgets at the Naples-based advertising agency.
She started in the role in 2015 and says the average workday involves “lots of meetings and lots of emails.”
Lombardo says she uses several methods to keep work for each client organized, including taking detailed meeting notes. “You always refer to them,” she says. When she returns to the office after a meeting, she facilitates the immediate needs of that client.
She touches base with each of the agency’s clients daily or every other day. That helps keep them on schedule.
To keep track of projects, Lombardo and other staff use production schedules and creative briefs. The briefs are frequently reviewed as a team, she says, “just to ensure the accuracy of what the client wants and that we’re all working together.”
The advertising world isn’t a solitary business, and that fact comes into play every day. “Working so closely with a group of great people, you have to be patient,” she says. “You work with each other and collaborate with your team to come up with your best results.”
Lombardo says listening is a key trait in her line of work, too. “This is a creative atmosphere, and you have to listen to everyone’s ideas. No idea is a bad idea.”
The variety that comes with Lombardo’s job can make it demanding, but it’s also what she appreciates about it. “In advertising, you kind of learn every day,” she says. “That’s what I love. It’s something different. You’re always being faced with new challenges, and I really like that aspect of it.”
