County seeks to fill at least 100 open jobs

BRADENTON — Manatee County is increasing its payroll, seeking to fill more than 100 vacancies, from bus drivers to project engineers to sheriff's deputies.

The county is holding a job and hiring fair Thursday, from 2 - 7 p.m. at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, One Haben Boulevard, Palmetto, to fill some vacancies, according to a statement. Representatives from Manatee County government, the clerk of the circuit court, the property appraiser, sheriff, supervisor of elections and tax collector are expected to be there, the release adds.

CareerSource Suncoast officials will also be there, to help candidates with resume writing and interview tips, along with their mobile job unit so applicants can apply on site.

“The county is expanding, this coupled with over 500 current employees set to retire in the next three to five years, there has never been a better time to explore a long-term career in county government,” says Joe Spain, HR Talent Recruiter, in the release.

Vacancies the county seeks to fill include:

• Bus operators/transit attendants
• Administrative support
• Industrial controls technicians
• School crossing guards
• Law enforcement deputies
• Inspections officers
• Project management/project engineers
• Accounting and finance
• 911 emergency dispatchers
• Utility workers
• Convention center staff
• Counter associates (tax collector)
• Transportation planners
• Operations and maintenance workers
