Software company considers relocation to area

LONGBOAT KEY — An out-of-state software company looking to move its headquarters is considering Longboat Key.

Longboat is one of several areas the company is considering, according to a YourObserver.com article. It is being recruited as a Qualified Target Industry, a Florida incentive program that attracts companies to the state. The Longboat Observer is a sister paper of the Business Observer.

The company's name will not be made public until after it has made its relocation decision.

According to the Observer article, the Longboat Town Commission voted 7-0 to support relocation efforts with Manatee County. The town agreed to commit up to $25,000 in incentives during a five-year period if the company chooses Longboat Key.

Bradenton Area Economic Development Committee Director of Business Development Max Stewart says the company would bring a minimum of 20 jobs to the town but could bring up to 40. The average wage for employees is more than $100,000 annually.
