Sarasota law firm Williams Parker Harrison Dietz & Getzen has listed its 200 S. Orange Ave. property for sale, in an effort to gauge interest in the two-block downtown site.
Shareholder Bill Seider says the 90-year-old law firm will likely stay put unless an exceptional offer is received. Williams Parker has called the two-story brick buildings it occupies home since 1976. A second building was completed in 1990. In all, the firm occupies about 43,000 square feet of space.
“We've floated conceptual plans regarding a possible move before, and nothing came of it,” Seider says. “We're just feeling that now is probably the top of the market and we want to see what level of interest there is. We're certainly not driven to leave here. We like it here.”
He adds that the firm has not set an asking price for the property, which also contains the popular Nancy's BBQ restaurant and other commercial spaces. Seider says all leases that are in place will be honored, despite the listing.
If the roughly 3.3-acre site is sold, it would likely fetch roughly $30 million, based on entitlements for about 160 residences under current city zoning.
