M/I Homes targets massive south Sarasota project

WEST VILLAGES — The Sarasota-Manatee division of national firm M/I Homes is the latest builder to join the list of homebuilders inside the West Villages, a master planned community in south Sarasota County.

M/I Homes plans to build 136 homes in Oasis at West Villages, the community's newest neighborhood, according to a statement. M/I Homes will construct single-family homes on 60' and 70' wide home sites, the release adds. The homes, ranging in size from about 2,100 square feet to over 4,000 square feet under air, will have tile roofs, three car garages, outdoor living spaces and open floor plans.

“We look forward to building in West Villages,” M/I Homes Area President David Hunihan says in the statement. “This is the first venture into south Sarasota County for M/I Homes, and we are excited to be a part of the growth here. West Villages has done such a great job of planning for the future, we think this will be one of the most desirable locations we offer.”

West Villages Florida, on 10,000 acres, is one of the fastest selling master- planned communities nationwide. M/I Homes is the 13th largest single-family homebuilder in the nation, according to Builder magazine.
