Two of the more outgoing construction executives in the Sarasota-Bradenton market, Jack Cox and Jeff Charlotte, are branching out to a new line of work: radio.

The duo is launching “Business Spotlights with Jack and Jeff,” a weekly radio show that will broadcast on Sarasota News Radio's 1320 AM, 1450 AM and 103.9 FM Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. The inaugural show is scheduled for May 30, with Dave Beesley and P.J. Brooks from First Step of Sarasota and recovering former addict Justin Halas to discuss the area heroin epidemic.

“This radio show is a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on the relevant issues that affect our business community,” says Cox, president of Halfacre Construction Co., in a statement. “Jeff and I look forward to highlighting various leaders in the for-profit and nonprofit sections to bring these issues to the forefront.”

The June 6 show will highlight the state of Sarasota County schools, the release adds. Scheduled guests for that show include BJ Ivey, Sarasota County's 2017 Teacher of the Year, and Superintendent Todd Bowden. Future guests on the show include Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight; Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells; Mireya Eavey, president of the Sarasota Area United Way Suncoast; Gecko's Hospitality Group co-owner Mike Quillen; Daiquiri Deck President and developer Troy Syprett; Michael's On East co-owner Michael Klauber; and District 71 state House candidates Will Robinson and James Buchanan.

“It's important to us to recognize all the good that businesses and business leaders are doing for our community,” says Charlotte, president of J.E. Charlotte Construction. “As residents and business owners, we live, work and play here, and we want to acknowledge the positive news as well as the issues facing our area.”
