Star performer named tourism award-winner

SARASOTA — Circus Arts Conservatory co-founder and aerial silks performer Dolly Jacobs is the recipient of the 2017 National Travel and Tourism Week Voice of Sarasota Award from Visit Sarasota County.

According to a press release, the Visit Sarasota County board of directors chose Jacobs based on her ability to positively raise awareness of Sarasota County and affect tourism through her words, actions and deeds.

“Dolly's work in keeping Sarasota's circus heritage and legacy alive throughout the world is a testament to her passion,” says Drayton Saunders, Visit Sarasota board of directors chair and president of Sarasota-based real estate firm Michael Saunders & Co., in a statement. “Through her work at The Circus Arts Conservatory, she continues to ensure Sarasota is known as the 'Circus Capital of the World.' We are proud that she calls Sarasota home.”

Visit Sarasota County gave additional awards to travel and tourism industry members. Venice Farmers Market manager Linda Wilson was awarded the Guest Service Excellence - Management award. Ritz-Carlton Sarasota concierge Nicole Hancock was given the Guest Service Excellence: Front Line award. City of Venice Public Information Officer Lorraine Anderson was awarded the Guest Service Excellence - Heart of House award. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens volunteer Jane Paulishak was honored with the Guest Service Excellence - Volunteer award. Escape Countdown owner Renee Ryckman was given the Sarasota County Rising Star award.
