SARASOTA — On Sunday night's “MTV Movie & TV Awards,” the cable television channel MTV aired a commercial for an unscripted series set on Sarasota's Siesta Key.

The news was previously reported in an April 16 article in the trade magazine Adweek about MTV President Chris McCarthy. The magazine says the show is “about a group of kids in an elite Florida enclave who return home for the summer after spending their freshman year in college.”

According to a YourObserver.com article, Visit Sarasota County President Virginia Haley says it's too soon to tell what effect having the show will have on Sarasota-Bradenton area tourism.

A new scripted TNT show called “Claws” about women working in a Florida nail salon was also filmed in the area. It will premiere June 11.

The Adweek article states the Siesta Key show will premiere July 19.
