TAMPA — The people have spoken, and in Tampa they say they don't care too much for burritos.
That's the word from the Postmates Burrito Index — just in time for Cinco de Mayo, which celebrates Mexico's victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Postmates, a restaurant delivery app, partnered with the “bean counters” at NationalToday.com to rank cities nationwide based on the total number of burrito deliveries, the frequency of these deliveries and the overall preference for burritos over other foods, according to a statement.
Tampa came in dead last, No. 30.
Los Angeles ranked No. 1, followed by Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. Sprinkled in the top 30 is Miami (No. 6); Oklahoma City (No. 17); Austin (No. 20); and Raleigh, (No. 29).
Postmates, with service in nine Florida locales, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Gulfport and St. Pete Beach, isn't only into burritos for the data: The company is tempting 10,000 Tampa residents with free burritos all day long May 5.
