Airport traffic falls

FORT MYERS — Airport traffic at Southwest Florida International Airport fell 4.4% in February compared to February 2016.

Also, passenger traffic year-to-date is down 3.7% from the same period last year, according to a statement from the airport.

In total, 946,079 passengers traveled through the Fort Myers airport. The traffic leader in February was Southwest with 203,388 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (171,295), American (122,654), Spirit (113,065) and JetBlue (108,637).

Southwest Florida International Airport served 8.6 million passengers in 2016 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
