TAMPA — Spirit Airlines has announced plans to begin daily, nonstop flights from Boston to Tampa beginning next month.
The seasonal service to Tampa International Airport begins Feb. 16, and will run through April 26 out of Logan International Airport, the discount carrier says.
“We are thrilled to bring another exciting tropical destination to Boston, just in time for winter,” says Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines' vice president of network planning in statement.
The daily flight will depart from Boston at 7 p.m. and arrive in Tampa at 10:25 p.m., according to Spirit Airlines' website. The return flight from Tampa to Boston departs at 3:23 p.m. daily and arrives at 6:15 p.m.
Spirit will initially charge $446.38 for a round-trip ticket, according to its website.
JetBlue and Delta also fly nonstop to Boston from Tampa International Airport.
Spirit currently flies nonstop to more than a dozen cities from Boston, including Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and West Palm Beach. From Tampa, Spirit Airlines also flies to more than a dozen cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston and Minneapolis//St. Paul. The carrier recently began service to Baltimore-Washington International Airport, in Linthicum, Md., and the Akron-Canton Airport, in Ohio.
In all, Spirit Airlines flies more than 400 flights daily to 59 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.
