BRADENTON — Sunz Holdings, a parent company to five insurance-connected subsidiaries, named Theodore “Ted” Bryant executive vice president and chief legal officer.

Bryant — an attorney who is also certified as a player-agent by the Major League Baseball Players' Association — will report directly to Sunz CEO and Chairman Steven Herrig in the newly created position, according to a release. Bryant will be responsible for the Sunz law department, including main oversight over corporate governance as it relates to contracts, regulatory compliance and general corporate matters, the release adds. He will also assist in growth and development of the holding company's affiliates, capital raising activities, mergers and acquisitions, and supporting the business development efforts.

"We are very excited to add Ted to the dynamic senior leadership team already in place at Sunz,” Herrig says in the release. “He is an accomplished executive who has extensive experience in leading legal matters and will be a vital advisor and contributor to our leadership teams as we continue to advance our business,"

Bryant was most recently general counsel, secretary, and executive vice president at CountryWide HR in Orlando, where he was head of the legal department for the holding company and its staffing and Professional Employer Organization subsidiaries.

Sunz, which had about $85 million in revenue 2015, recently moved from Sarasota to downtown Bradenton. It has about 90 employees.
